IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, Inspector-General of Police, has reaffirmed the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to professionalism and accountability during a working visit to the NPF National Cybercrime Centre in Abuja.
During the visit, the IGP charged personnel of the Centre to maintain the highest standards of professionalism in the discharge of their duties, warning against any actions that could portray the unit as a tool for oppression by influential individuals or celebrities.
He stressed the need for officers to remain impartial and uphold the rule of law in handling cybercrime-related matters.
Disu commended officers and men of the Centre for their dedication and contributions to combating cybercrime, noting that their efforts have strengthened Nigeria’s position in tackling digital threats both locally and internationally.
He highlighted the strategic importance of the Cybercrime Centre in addressing emerging cyber threats and safeguarding the nation’s cyberspace, adding that personnel of the Force across the country continue to make notable progress in crime prevention and control.
As part of efforts to enhance public awareness, the IGP announced plans to introduce a series of symposia and enlightenment campaigns aimed at educating citizens on cybercrime laws and their implications.
According to him, the initiative is designed to promote compliance and foster a safer digital environment for all Nigerians.
