Idris Ibrahim, a Nigerian national, has been executed by Saudi Arabian authorities after being convicted of trafficking cocaine into the country.
Ibrahim was executed in the Madina region on Monday, August 24, 2026, following the completion of legal proceedings over the drug trafficking case.
According to DW Hausa, Ibrahim was convicted of smuggling cocaine into Saudi Arabia, with the verdict and death sentence subsequently upheld by both the Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court.
The execution was carried out after the Saudi authorities concluded the judicial process and approved enforcement of the sentence.
Saudi Arabia operates stringent laws against drug-related offences, particularly trafficking and smuggling, with the death penalty among the punishments prescribed for such offences.
The execution adds to the cases involving foreign nationals who have faced severe penalties under Saudi Arabia’s strict anti-drug laws.
