JAMB extends 2026 Direct Entry registration deadline to May 8

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has extended the sale of application forms for the 2026 Direct Entry admission exercise to May 8.

JAMB said the extension was aimed at ensuring that no eligible candidate is denied the opportunity to pursue tertiary education in the country.

The board disclosed this in a statement issued on Wednesday by Fabian Benjamin, its Public Communications Advisor.

According to the statement, the decision was taken to give more candidates the chance to register and to improve access to registration centres nationwide.

“In furtherance of its objective of expanding access to tertiary education, the Board has extended the sale of Direct Entry application documents to 8th May 2026,” the statement said.

Benjamin also announced the creation of five additional registration centres to ease pressure in locations experiencing high demand.

The newly approved centres are the Centre for Open and Distance Learning, University of Ilorin, Kwara State; Bells University of Technology, Ota, Ogun State; Olabisi Onabanjo University Centre 1, Ago-Iwoye, Ogun State; Prof. Usman E-Learning Centre, Federal College of Education (Special), Oyo State; and Human Development Initiatives (Grace House), Lagos State.

He said the new centres would begin operations on April 30, 2026.

The JAMB spokesperson added that all Professional Registration Centres and Professional Testing Centres across the country remain open for the ongoing registration exercise.
