Operatives of the Nigeria Police Force have rescued a 43-year-old abducted woman, Adijat Kuburat, and her two-year-old son, Abdul Malik Hamzat, from a kidnappers’ hideout in a forest in Kwara State.

The rescue operation was carried out by operatives of the Force Intelligence Department–Intelligence Response Team (FID-IRT) in collaboration with local security support groups during a tactical operation on Saturday at Bode Sadu in Kwara State.
According to the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Anietie Okokon Edem Iniedu, the operation followed credible intelligence indicating that the victims were being held captive in the forest.
The police said the kidnappers opened fire on the advancing operatives in an attempt to resist the operation but were overpowered by the superior tactical response of the security team.
The armed suspects subsequently fled deeper into the forest, abandoning the victims.
Following a thorough search of the area, the operatives successfully rescued Mrs. Kuburat and her two-year-old son from the kidnappers’ hideout.
The victims have since been taken to a medical facility, where they are receiving treatment and necessary care.
The police said efforts have been intensified to track down and arrest the fleeing suspects as well as dismantle the criminal network responsible for the abduction.
Commending the operatives for their courage and professionalism, the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, reaffirmed the Nigeria Police Force’s commitment to tackling kidnapping and other violent crimes across the country.
He said the Force would continue to deploy intelligence-led and collaborative operations to ensure that criminal elements are apprehended and brought to justice.
The Inspector-General also assured Nigerians that the police remain resolute in protecting lives and property through sustained security operations nationwide.
