Mazi Afam Osigwe, SAN, President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA)
has constituted a 20-member Transition Committee (TC) to facilitate a seamless handover process to the Association’s newly elected national officers.
The committee will work closely with a corresponding Transition Committee to be established by the President-elect, Mrs. Oyinkansola Badejo-Okusanya, SAN, to ensure a smooth transfer of responsibilities and enable the incoming administration to commence its duties without delay.
According to a notice issued by the NBA President, the Transition Committee is mandated to oversee the handover process, address any challenges that may arise during the transition, and collaborate with the Transition Implementation Committee to be set up by the President-elect.
The committee is chaired by Jonathan G. Taidi, SAN, while Princess Hadiza Afegbua will serve as Co-Chair. Other members include Eko Ejembi Eko, SAN; Fidelis Mbadugha, SAN; Adeyemi Pitan, SAN; Johnnie Agim, SAN; Tolu Babaleye; Matthew Osume; Abubakar Gajam; Daniel Kip; Nkechi Ezike (Secretary); Bamiji Adeyeye; Maria Akpan; Adedayo Akeredolu; Magaji Umar; Rashidat Abimbola Hassan; Umoh Edet; Chinekwu Akpe; Napoleon Idenala; and Oluwole Akintokunbo.
The notice stated that the committee may hold physical, virtual, or hybrid meetings as deemed necessary to effectively carry out its assignment.
Osigwe expressed appreciation to the committee members for accepting to serve, noting that their experience and commitment would be instrumental in ensuring an orderly and efficient transition.
The constitution of the committee marks a significant step in preparations for the inauguration of the incoming NBA leadership under President-elect Mrs. Oyinkansola Badejo-Okusanya, SAN, reinforcing the Association’s commitment to continuity, stability, and effective governance.
