The Nigeria Police Force has recorded a significant operational success following the arrest of six notorious kidnapping suspects and the rescue of multiple victims in Kaduna State.

The operation was carried out by operatives of the Force Intelligence Department Special Tactical Squad (FID-STS), leading to the arrest of Yusuf Shuaibu (23), Abubakar Bature (19), Yau Murtala, Bello Suleiman (19), Abdul Kareem Nuhu (36), and Ahmed Musa (28) on April 3, 2026.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects are members of a well-organized kidnapping syndicate operating across Kaduna State and surrounding areas, with established links to criminal camps located in Rijana Forest.
Further findings indicate the group’s involvement in several high-profile abduction cases, including the kidnapping of a senior police officer and his son in October 2025. Despite collecting a ransom of Twenty-Four Million Naira (₦24,000,000) along with other valuables, the suspects failed to release the victims. Police operatives later intervened, successfully rescuing the officer’s son unharmed, while efforts to locate and rescue the officer remain ongoing.
The syndicate has also been linked to the abduction of additional victims, including a young child and members of the same family. In that case, the criminals reportedly collected a ransom of Eighteen Million Naira (₦18,000,000) before the victims were eventually freed through sustained police operations.
Authorities confirmed that investigations are ongoing to track down other fleeing members of the gang, secure the release of any remaining captives, and recover weapons used by the syndicate.
The Force Public Relations Officer, DCP Anthony Okon Placide, reaffirmed the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to intensify efforts against kidnapping and other violent crimes across the country.
