The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced that the nationwide Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise will resume for its third and final phase on May 11, 2026.

In a statement issued on May 5, 2026, the Chairman of the Information and Voter Education Committee, Mohammed Kudu Haruna, said the exercise will run until July 10, 2026, giving eligible Nigerians another opportunity to register.

He explained that the second phase of the CVR was suspended on April 17, 2026, to allow the Commission to clean up the voter register after its publication for claims and objections.

“The third phase of the CVR will commence on Monday, 11th May 2026, and end on Friday, 10th July 2026. Eligible citizens who have attained the age of 18, as well as those who were unable to register during the earlier phases, should seize this opportunity to do so,” Haruna said.

INEC also advised registered voters who wish to transfer their registration, replace lost or damaged Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), or correct their biodata to visit its offices nationwide or use its dedicated online portal.

Haruna noted that the Commission would display the Register of Voters for claims and objections from July 23 to July 29, 2026, as part of efforts to ensure the credibility of the register.

“This statutory exercise provides an important opportunity for citizens to scrutinise the register and assist the Commission in ensuring its accuracy, completeness and credibility,” he added.

The Commission reassured the public that adequate arrangements have been made for a smooth exercise, urging all eligible citizens to participate.

INEC emphasized that active participation in the CVR process remains vital to strengthening democratic governance in Nigeria.
