President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has said his administration’s infrastructure drive and economic reforms are designed to improve the well-being of Nigerians and secure long-term prosperity.

Speaking on Saturday in Iperu, Ogun State, during the inauguration of the Gateway International Cargo Airport, the President stated that government investments are people-focused and aimed at building a stronger future.
“Our investment is about our people. Today’s foundation is for tomorrow’s prosperity,” he said.
The airport, constructed by the administration of Governor Dapo Abiodun, was inaugurated alongside two newly acquired aircraft under Gateway Airline.
Tinubu noted that the facility is supported by an independent power source, reflecting the government’s commitment to sustainable energy and infrastructure development. He also commissioned 1,000 electric bikes, security vehicles, and agricultural tractors, describing them as critical to enhancing mobility, security, and food production.
The President commended Nigerians for their continued support for the All Progressives Congress (APC), stating that ongoing reforms have increased resources available to states and improved service delivery at the sub-national level.
He praised Governor Abiodun for aligning the state’s development agenda with the Renewed Hope Agenda, noting that initiatives such as the deployment of electric bikes demonstrate a forward-looking approach to modern transportation.
Tinubu also lauded the Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, for reforms that have enhanced ease of doing business and improved staff welfare.
During the visit, the President inaugurated a Customs hub comprising barracks, a training college, a warehouse, and a hospital.
In his remarks, Governor Abiodun described the President’s visit as historic and commended his economic reforms, including the unification of the foreign exchange rate and removal of fuel subsidy, which he said have boosted investor confidence and strengthened public finance.
Also speaking, Senate President Godswill Akpabio praised Tinubu’s democratic credentials and reforms, urging further decentralisation of the power sector for improved efficiency.
Former President Olusegun Obasanjo also commended the administration’s leadership, noting the significant progress made in Ogun State since its creation.
Dignitaries at the event included the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun; Minister of Aviation, Festus Keyamo; Minister of Communications, Bosun Tijani; and the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Olayemi Cardoso, among others.
The event also attracted governors from several states and traditional rulers, underscoring its national significance.
