Police Apprehend Armed Robber On Wanted List In Bayelsa

The police have apprehended an armed robbery on the wanted list in Bayelsa State.

Operatives of the Special Weapons and Tactics Unit of the Bayelsa State Police Command arrested a 19-year-old suspect, Perepiyagha Pere, for armed robbery.

The suspect, from the Angiama community in the Southern Ijaw Local Government Area of the state, was identified as staff of a security outfit.

According to a statement by DSP Musa Mohammed, State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), the suspect has been on the wanted list of the Command after series of robbery incident, with the recent being the attack of a female victim in her house at Imirigi community.

He was said to have inflicted several knife injuries on the female victim and forcibly stole her 300 dollars before threatening her by emptying her bank account and transferring the sum of N62,000 to his bank account.

The suspect is currently in the custody of the police at the State Criminal Investigation Department, Yenagoa, undergoing further investigation, while the victim is receiving treatment at an undisclosed hospital in the state.

The Bayelsa State Police Commissioner, CP Iyamah Edebor, while commending the operatives, cautioned members of the public to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious activities to the nearest police station.
