The Police have debunked what they described as a false claim in a viral video circulating online, alleging that Herdsmen killed some persons at Awgu Junction, along the Enugu/Port Harcourt Expressway, Enugu State.
The Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, of the Enugu State, Daniel Ndukwe, in a statement, indicated that preliminary findings revealed that the incident did not occur as portrayed in the video. He stated that there is no report or credible evidence available to the command to substantiate the allegation.
The command condemned what it described as a deliberate spread of unverified and inflammatory information capable of public peace, security, and harmonious co-existence among the people.
Members of the public were urged to disregard the video and desist from sharing or amplifying false information, as the police will not hesitate to invoke relevant provisions of the law against anyone found culpable.
