A suspected improvised explosive device (IED) discovered at the New Bussa General Hospital in Borgu LGA of Niger State has been defused by the bomb disposal unit of the Nigeria Police Force.
An eye witness narrated that the suspected explosive device was discovered by a security man attached to the hospital.
He reportedly alerted conventional security operatives who confirmed it to be an explosive device.
The situation however created panic at the hospital before operatives from the bomb disposal unit of the Nigeria police force arrived the scene and successfully deffused the device before evacuating it from the premises for destruction.
SP Wasiu Abiodun, Police Public Relations Officer Niger State Command, who confirms the incident in a statement says the situation is now under control while additional security personnel have been drafted to the location.
