Senate Adopts Motion for Redeployment of More Troops to Tackle Resurgence of Boko Haram in North East

The Senate has adopted a motion urging more military deployment to the north east to address the resurgence of Boko Haram in the North East.

This was sequel to a motion from the Senate Chief Whip Mohammed Tahir Monguno and the five other senators from Borno and Yobe states.

Senate also called for the provision and use of modern technology to effectively combat the insurgents, following recent attacks.

In another development,
Senators Adamu Aliero representing Kebbi Central, Yahaya Abdullahi of Kebbi North Senatorial District and Garba Maidoki from Kebbi South senatorial zone defect from Peoples Democratic Party, PDP to All Progressives Congress APC.

Their defection brings to 68 the number of APC senators in the red chamber.
