Nyesom Wike, a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has called on party members to embrace unity, inclusiveness, and renewed commitment as the party charts a new course ahead of future elections.

Speaking at a party convention, Wike described the gathering as a celebration of resilience, noting that members stood firm through what he termed a “serious leadership crisis” that once threatened the survival of the party.
He said the PDP had overcome internal divisions and attempts to weaken its structure, adding that the party had been restored to its core values of internal democracy and respect for the rule of law.
Wike commended party faithful for their loyalty, particularly at the grassroots, stating that their steadfastness during the crisis played a key role in the party’s recovery.
According to him, many members resisted pressures to defect, despite what he described as opportunistic movements by some political elites in pursuit of personal interests.
“The path to the future of our party must be built on inclusiveness, unity, and renewal,” he said, urging aggrieved members and stakeholders to return and contribute to rebuilding efforts.
He assured that the party would provide equal opportunities for all members, stressing the need for collective sacrifice and adherence to the founding principles of the PDP.
Wike also emphasised the importance of strengthening internal structures to ensure that the voices of ordinary members are heard and reflected in party decisions.
He concluded by expressing optimism about the party’s future, stating that the PDP remains committed to delivering good governance and meeting the aspirations of Nigerians.
