Workers Welfare Will Continue To Be Paramount – Governor Makinde

Seyi Makinde, Governor Oyo State, has said his administration’s policies are boosting welfare of the state workforce.

Makinde, at the 2026 May Day celebration at Lekan Salami Sports Complex, Ibadan, represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Musbau Babatunde, noted that the theme for 2026 May Day celebration; ‘Insecurity and Poverty: Threats to a Conducive Work Environment’ confronted workers with the harsh reality of the world of work.

He explained that insecurity and poverty are twin burdens that drain productivity and destroy morale, saying no civil servant can deliver excellence where fear and uncertainty prevail.

The duo of the State Chairmen of Trade Union Congress, TUC, and Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, Bosun Olabiyi-Agoro and Martins Kayode, respectively, urged government to do more in tackling insecurity and poverty that bedeviled the nation.

Kayode commended the state government for responding appropriately to all issues relating to the welfare of workers in the state.

Olabiyi-Agoro noted that Nigerian workers were not finding it easy in the face of increasing in the fuel prices and uncontrollable inflammation.
