Operatives of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command have neutralized a wanted bandit leader, Abdullahi Umar, also known as Duna, alongside his lieutenants, Buba Ahmadi (Killer) and Habi Sule (Mai-Kudi), during a clearance operation in Abuja.

The FCT Commissioner of Police, CP Ajao Adewale, confirmed the operation while briefing journalists at the command headquarters on Friday.

The development followed a series of attacks linked to the gang. On September 15, 2025, armed hoodlums invaded Kpobi and Kpaduma 3 villages in Guzape, where two vigilantes sustained gunshot wounds.

One of suspects, Bako Pwaza, later died at the National Hospital, Abuja, while the attackers also attempted to kidnap two young women but were repelled by a joint police response team, and the victims were rescued.

Adewale said two days later, on September 17, the same group abducted Nafiu Idris, a staff of the Federal Capital Territory Authority (FCTA), Department of Urban Affairs, in Karu.

He added that this prompted a joint operation involving the police Anti-Kidnapping Unit, the Guards Brigade of the Nigerian Army, operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS), hunters, and vigilantes.

Recovered from the scene were two AK-49 rifles, two magazines loaded with seven rounds of 7.62mm live ammunition, two Itel mobile phones, ATM cards, and other items.
