Bello Goronyo, Minister of State for Works has expressed dissatisfaction with the slow pace of work on the Zaria–Sheme road during an inspection of construction on the corridor.

The project is part of the ongoing dualisation of the Zaria–Funtua–Sokoto road, which traverses Kaduna, Katsina, Zamfara, and Sokoto states and is being executed by four different contractors.

The minister noted that Mothercat Nigeria Limited is handling Phases One and Two from Sheme to Zaria; while CBC is responsible for about 105 kilometres extending to Talatan Mafara in Zamfara State.

The minister said President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, through the Minister of Works, Dave Umahi, alongside directors from the ministry, gave directive for the inspection, in order to assess the level of work done on the corridor.

Goronyo expressed confidence that the present administration would deliver on its mandate, adding that the government is responsive and open to feedback.
