An expert in the area of sustainability,
Mrs. Abimbola Ini,founder of Thistle Praxis Consulting and Sustainability has charged the newly elected executives to take up the mantle of accountability and transparency in a bid to ensure social responsibility through strategic vision.
Ini made this disclosure while addressing new executives of University of Lagos Alumni Association, Lagos Branch during a leadership retreat organised to fortify them for the work ahead.
She urged new members of the executive body to continually and mutually reinforce so as to ensure they sustain the good legacy the institution is known for.
In his address, Professor Oluwatoyin Temitayo Ogundipe, FAS Vice-Chancellor, University of Lagos suggested the need for the Alumnus of the University to give back to the school that raised them saying Unilag will always be part of their history.
He also emphasised on the need to uphold the status quo of the educational institution in society, stating the need for an alumnus to pick a child in mentorship which is much available through the advancement office.
Dr John Momoh,the National President Unilag Alumni Association Worldwide and Mr Oyindamola Johnson Convener,Elevate your game spoke respectively on leadership and the power of working together.
Momoh said enough is enough of desception,dis-information and unnecessary fighting of issues that had no locus standi should be a thing of the past in Alumni adding that
the new executives should embark on aggressive membership drive, building relationships and fundraising to help the University.
Johnson noted that the road to success will be rough that the newly elected executives should prepare for it.
Dr Benjamin Oluwatosin Olowojebutu, Chairman of Unilag Alumni Association, Lagos State commended the efforts of every indefatigable Akokite trailing the blaze of leadership in Lagos state particularly the Governor of Lagos,Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the Vice Chancellor, Prof Temitayo Ogundipe and Dr John Momoh saying the new executives will follow their footsteps.
Olowojebutu said accountability and transparency in Governance are mutually reinforcing saying that the team is syncronizing individual manifestoes into one one documents which will in turn be the administration’s working compass.
