ELON MUSK SET A NEW DATE FOR THE FREE REMOVAL OF THE VERIFICATION TICK

Elon Musk, the CEO of Twitter, said yesterday that the last day for free verified Twitter accounts to be deleted will be April 20.

Musk made this announcement on Twitter using the handle @Elonmusk, tweeting, “Final date for removing legacy Blue checks is 4/20.”

Verified Twitter users didn’t have to pay anything to get verified or to renew their verifications before Elon Musk became the company’s CEO.

Twitter had previously declared that it would start removing all legacy blue checks on April 1, 2023.

Punch reported that Twitter had taken down the New York Times’ verification badge. The New York Times is a daily newspaper published in New York City, New York, and has an estimated global readership of 8.6 million paid digital subscribers and 740,000 paid print subscribers as of 2022.

The New York Times had previously stated that it would not subscribe to Twitter Blue unless it was absolutely necessary for their reporting.
