Twitter User lambasts UNILAG over Online Classes

By Stephen Adoga

An irate social media user believed to be student of the University of Lagos has criticized the University authority over its inability to notify students of the commencement of online classes via the electronic mail.

In a tweet denouncing the institution’s decision to announce the date of commencement of the university’s first online based class through a newspaper publication, the handle, @ope_yemie, expressed skepticism about the university’s readiness to successfully conduct online classes when it has not been able to effectively send email notifications to its students.

“Unilag wants to do online classes but cannot send emails to notify us. They had to do newspaper publication. God abeg”,the tweet reads.

The user, apparently unsatisfied, followed up the initial tweet by another one which accused the Lagos most sought after university of being engrossed in the habit of displaying students’ results on notice board, questioning whether an institution with such way of handling academic issues would be able to adequately lecture its students online and handle submission of assessments.

People that are still pasting result on notice board say they want to do online classes AND! assessment”,the second tweet reads.

At the time of writing this report, the tweet had, in what could be viewed by many as expression of agreement with the tweet, gathered nearly 3, 000 reweets, over 300 quotes, almost 6, 000 likes and numerous comments.
