The Adamawa State Police Command has refuted claim that one of its personnel, Inspector Daso Kassa, commited suicide due to prevailing poverty and frustration.
A report earlier claimed that the inspector with AP/NO. 260209, hanged himself to death behind a primary school in the State.
However, when contacted by our correspondent, SP Yahaya Suleiman, the public relations officer for the command, debunked the claim, adding that Inspector Kassa did not commit suicide.
In a statement exclusively shared with our correspondent on Tuesday, the police spokesman clarified that the Command received a report that the inspector was seen unconscious near his house, and was immediately rushed to Specialist Hospital Jimeta for a medical examination where he was later confirmed dead by a medical doctor.
The statement reads, “The Adamawa State Police Command clarifies that Inspector Daso Kassa did not commit suicide, as circulated on social media platforms.
“The Command wishes to state that Inspector Daso Kassa until his death, was a serving member of the Nigeria Police Force attached to Divisional police Headquarters, Doubeli and was granted leave on compassionate grounds due to illness.
“Sadly, on 22/07/2024, the Command received a report that he was seen unconscious near his house. He was immediately rushed to Specialist Hospital Jimeta for a medical examination and was later confirmed dead by a medical doctor.
“A report from the family indicates that he went out to look for traditional medicine in the bush.
“An autopsy is underway to determine the actual cause of death.
“The Command advised members of the public to refrain from spreading unverified information.”
