Plateau State Police Command has confirmed the killing of a suspected armed robber in Bokkos Local Government Area of the State.
In a statement issued on Saturday, the DSP Alfred Alabo, the command Public Relations Officer, said the suspect was killed after a gun duel ensued between the officers and an armed robbery gang.
He said, “On 29th August 2024 at about 8:00 PM, our patrol Team attached to the Department of Operations (DOPS), State Headquarters Jos while on their way to Bokkos LGA, encountered a roadblock mounted by suspected armed robbers.
“Upon sighting the patrol vehicle, the hoodlums opened fire on the officers. Consequently, a gun battle ensued between the officers and the criminals, resulting to the neutralisation of one of the suspects while the others managed to escape into the forest.
“The scene has been visited by the Divisional Police Officer Bokkos division, and the corpse was deposited at the Bokkos Public Morgue.
“The Plateau State Commissioner of Police CP Olugbemiga Emmanuel Adesina, psc wishes to assure the good citizens of the State that the Command is committed to ensuring the safety and security of all residents, and therefore urges them to remain vigilant and cooperate with law enforcement agencies, as investigation into the matter is on top gear, with a view to arresting the fleeing suspects.
