On August 19, 2024, Christiannah Idowu was declared missing after her parents received a WhatsApp message from her account, along with photos of her in captivity, and a ransom demand of N1,500,000.
Her parents raised N350,000 and sent it to the suspect’s betting account. The suspect then requested the sender’s bank statement, which the family provided on August 23.
However, the suspect stopped communicating after receiving the statement.
Investigations began on August 26 and revealed that the suspect had withdrawn N100,000 from the betting account before it was locked. Further investigation linked the account to the suspect, who had a mutual relationship with Christiannah on social media.
On September 3, the suspect confessed to killing Christiannah and burying her in his parents’ compound in Ikorodu.
He also allegedly confessed to killing his ex-girlfriend in 2018 and his biological sister in 2020.
The suspect was arrested and taken into custody for further investigation.
