Balarabe Shehu Ilelah, Director General, National Broadcasting Commission.
His appointment was announced on Friday, 11th June, 2021 by the Hon. Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed in a statement issued in Abuja.
Mr. Balarabe Shehu Ilelah who grew up in Bauchi, attended Kobi Primary School, Bauchi, as well as Junior Secondary School Misau. He is a graduate of Bayero University, Kano.
Balarabe Ilelah, a Veteran Broadcaster, had worked with NTA Bauchi before leaving Nigeria for the then Soviet Union as a Journalist.
Mr. Balarabe Ilelah’s appointment is for a tenure of five years in the first instance.
He emerged as the 8th DG.of the Commission since it was established.
The pioneer DG was Dr Tom Adaba followed by Mallam Nasir Danladi Bako(1999-2002),Dr Silas Babajiya Yisa(2002-2006),Mr Bayo Atoyebi(2006-2007),Engr Yomi Bolarinwa(2007-13),Mr Ememka Mba( 2013-2016),Mallam Ishaq Modibbo Kawu( 2016-2020) and Ilelah is the 8th DG.
Mr Armstrong Idachaba only acted between 2020 and 2021 and was never confirmed.
