Lagos Police Arrest, Arraign Suspect Over Alleged Domestic Violence

The Lagos State Police Command has arrested and arraigned a suspect, Emeka Joseph, in connection with an alleged case of assault occasioning harm and domestic violence following a viral video that drew public attention to the incident.

According to the Command, preliminary investigations revealed that the victim, Ezeka Chisom, was allegedly assaulted by the suspect, with whom she had been cohabiting. The assault reportedly left the victim with visible injuries to her face.

The police disclosed that following investigations, the suspect was charged to court and subsequently remanded at the Kirikiri Correctional Centre pending further proceedings.

The case has been adjourned until August 3, 2026.

Reacting to the development, the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Tijani Fatai, reaffirmed the Command’s zero-tolerance stance on domestic violence and all forms of abuse.

He assured members of the public that reports involving violence against persons would continue to receive prompt and thorough attention from the police.

The Commissioner also urged residents to promptly report incidents of domestic violence and other criminal activities to the nearest police station or formation, stressing the importance of timely reporting in ensuring justice for victims and preventing further abuse.

The Lagos State Police Command reiterated its commitment to protecting vulnerable persons and ensuring that offenders are brought to justice in accordance with the law.
