The federal government has secured the release of six Nigerians who were detained in Côte d’Ivoire.

A statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs indicates that citizen diplomacy remains one of the country’s core foreign policy priorities.
The Ministry commends Ambassador Nwabiola C. Ezenwa, Ambassador of Nigeria to Côte d’Ivoire, and the entire staff of the Embassy for their steadfast commitment, professionalism, and tireless diplomatic efforts, which culminated in the successful resolution.
The government assured that its missions worldwide will continue to provide consular assistance and engage host governments through diplomatic channels.
It, however, urges Nigerians abroad to at all times abide by local laws of their host countries and maintain regular contact with the nearest embassy or consulate to enable faster intervention when the need arises.
