The Federal High Court in Abuja has granted bail to the presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC) and publisher, Omoyele Sowore, in the sum of N200 million.

Justice Mohammed Umar, who delivered the ruling, ordered that Sowore must provide two sureties to perfect the bail conditions.

The court directed that one of the sureties must be a traditional ruler from Sowore’s community, while the second must own landed property within the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja.

Justice Umar further ruled that both sureties must be verified by the prosecution before the bail can take effect.

As part of the conditions, the court ordered Sowore to deposit his international passport with the Deputy Chief Registrar of the court.

Pending the fulfilment of the bail conditions, the court directed that Sowore remain in custody.
