The Defence Headquarters has assured Nigerians that it will sustain ongoing military operations across the country to consolidate recent gains in the fight against terrorism, banditry, kidnapping and other security threats.

Major General Michael Onoja, Director, Defence Media Operations, Speaking at the monthly Defence Media Operations briefing in Abuja, says troops recorded significant operational successes across the various theatres between April to June 2026.
Within the period under review, troops eliminated 662 terrorists, arrested 1,084 terrorists, rescued 951 kidnapped victims, destroyed 12 illegal refining sites, and recovered a large cache of arms and ammunition.
The Defence Headquarters notes that the Armed Forces remain resolute in protecting the nation’s territorial integrity and ensuring the safety of lives and property, while urging Nigerians to continue supporting security agencies with timely and credible intelligence.
