The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has confirmed that Femi Gbajabiamila, Chief of Staff to the President, was at the Commission’s headquarters in Abuja to give a statement in connection with the ongoing investigation into the purported Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council (PFIPC).
According to a statement from the ICPC media team, the visit followed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s directive for the Commission to investigate how PFIPC — an entity later disowned as fraudulent — was able to operate from within the Federal Secretariat, Abuja, for about two years under Adeniyi Adeyemi Matthew, who allegedly paraded himself as the Director-General of the Council.
The Commission stated that the Chief of Staff honoured the invitation from its investigators as part of efforts to gather all relevant facts in the matter.
It further clarified that Gbajabiamila was not arrested and that he willingly presented himself for the investigation.
The PFIPC probe is part of ICPC’s broader mandate to investigate abuse of office and fraudulent operations within public institutions.
