Ambassador Jimmy Ibrahim, Nigeria Permanent representative at the United Nations, says Nigeria has no nuclear weapons and no weapons of mass destruction programme.
Speaking at the 108th Plenary Meeting of the 80th United Nations General Assembly in New York, Ambassador Jimoh Ibrahim, reaffirmed President Bola Tinubu’s commitment to a nuclear-free world.
He said the Nigeria Atomic Energy Commission oversees all nuclear activities in the country, and that Nigeria is collaborating with other countries to achieve a nuclear weapon free world.
Ambassador Ibrahim also called for a review of the UN Charter to allow action against states that test nuclear weapons, stressing that Africa remains a nuclear-weapon-free zone.
He spoke as the world marks 30 years of the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty.
