The Ondo State Police Command has arrested two suspected members of the Eiye Confraternity and recovered live cartridges, an axe and a parcel of suspected Indian hemp from one of the suspects.
The suspects, identified as 30-year-old Yusuf Taye and *23-year-old Damilola Ojo, were arrested on September 23, 2026, at Loro Street and Temidire Street in Ondo town, respectively.
The arrests followed actionable intelligence received by operatives of the Funbi Fagun Division, according to a statement by the Command’s Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abayomi Jimoh.
Following the arrests and further investigation, police operatives obtained and executed a search warrant at Ojo’s residence.
The search reportedly led to the recovery of one small axe, two live cartridges and one parcel of suspected Indian hemp.
The police said preliminary investigation indicated that the two suspects were affiliated with the Eiye Confraternity, adding that both allegedly admitted their involvement with the group during questioning.
The suspects and recovered exhibits are currently being processed, while the case has been transferred to the Command Anti-Cultism Squad in Akure for further investigation and prosecution.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Felix Olutunbo Ohagwu, reiterated the Command’s commitment to tackling cultism, violent crimes and other forms of criminality across Ondo State.
Ohagwu also advised youths in the state to shun cultism, violent associations and other criminal activities, warning that involvement in such activities could expose them to legal consequences and jeopardise their future.
The Command urged members of the public to remain vigilant and continue providing credible and timely information to the police to support efforts to maintain public safety across the state.
