The Ogun State Police Command has arrested 11 suspects and recovered three firearms, 25 ATM cards and two suspected stolen vehicles during a series of operations carried out across the state between September 16 and 26, 2026.
The command also recovered multiple mobile phones and assorted electrical materials, while eight vehicles were impounded for allegedly obstructing traffic around the Sagamu Interchange Bridge.
The Commissioner of Police, Bode Ojajuni, disclosed the operational successes in a statement issued by the command’s Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Oluseyi Babasayi, on Sunday.
According to the statement, detectives attached to the Owode Egba Division recovered a stolen commercial TVS motorcycle at Mokoloki Village on September 17, following a complaint lodged the previous day.
Two suspects, Rasheed Abdul and Saula Meshinoye, were arrested in connection with the alleged theft, while another suspect identified as Saheed remained at large.
In another operation, operatives of the Olorunda Division arrested two suspects, Mutiu Gafar, 19, and Fatai Obasanmi, 37, over alleged burglary and stealing.
The suspects were intercepted along Ayetoro Road on September 19 while allegedly conveying electrical materials on a motorcycle. Police said the recovered items included bundles of electrical wiring, a change-over electrical box and a circuit breaker box.
Three other suspects — Olamide Ayandele, 30, Tope Samuel, 40, and Ayo Peter Ojo, 30 — were arrested by the Special Weapons and Tactics team at Base 7, Abule-Iroko, on September 21.
The suspects were intercepted around Dalemo, Ota, while allegedly conveying an unregistered tricycle and an unregistered TVS motorcycle. Preliminary investigation reportedly linked them to alleged vehicle theft around the Ijoko axis.
Similarly, operatives of the Igbesa Division arrested a 45-year-old suspect, Ameachine Anthony, over an alleged N2.5 million fraud and recovered 25 ATM cards and several mobile phones.
Police said preliminary investigation indicated that the suspect allegedly used newly acquired SIM cards and associates to facilitate bank accounts, after which the ATM cards were allegedly collected for fraudulent transactions.
The suspect and recovered exhibits were subsequently transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Eleweran, Abeokuta, for further investigation.
Also on September 22, SWAT operatives arrested Peter Olanrewaju, 34, following information about an alleged cult-related gathering.
Further investigation led to the arrest of Adebayo Sodiq, 36, and the recovery of one pump-action rifle and two locally made pistols.
Meanwhile, detectives from the Ijebu-Ode Area Crime Office recovered a Safira vehicle reportedly taken from its owner and arrested Olatunji Olalekan following intelligence gathering, discreet investigation and tracking.
The vehicle has been secured as an exhibit as investigation continues.
On September 26, personnel of the Sagamu Area Command and adjoining divisions also impounded eight vehicles during a “No Parking” enforcement operation around the Sagamu Interchange Bridge.
The police said the vehicles were found obstructing the highway and were impounded to facilitate free movement of traffic and improve safety for road users.
The affected vehicles are expected to be processed for prosecution on September 28.
The Commissioner of Police commended the officers for their vigilance and professionalism, as well as members of the public for their cooperation.
Ojajuni also reaffirmed the command’s commitment to proactive policing and urged residents to remain vigilant and provide credible information to the police.
