The Ogun State Police Command has recovered an AK-47 rifle, two rounds of 7.62mm ammunition and a Mercedes-Benz GLK in Ota, as part of its ongoing security operations in the area.

The recovery followed a search of the unregistered Mercedes-Benz GLK, during which police operatives discovered the rifle and ammunition. The vehicle and recovered items have been secured as investigations continue.

The latest breakthrough comes days after police operatives foiled a suspected robbery operation at Ijaba, Iyesi, Ota, in the early hours of November 1, killing one suspected armed robber and recovering two vehicles, a locally made pistol, ammunition and several items suspected to have been stolen.

The police said the two operations formed part of the Command’s sustained efforts to tackle criminal activities in Ota and strengthen security across the state.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Bode Ojajuni, commended the operatives for their vigilance and professionalism, reaffirming the Command’s commitment to proactive policing and the protection of lives and property.

In a statement issued on Monday, November 2, the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, urged residents to continue supporting the police by providing timely and credible information that could assist ongoing investigations and prevent crime.
