2027: Aisha Yesufu Accuses APC Of Intimidating Opposition, Says Nigerians Won’t Surrender

By Jelili Gbadamosi

Aisha Yesufu, Human rights activist, has warned against alleged intimidation of opposition supporters ahead of the 2027 general elections, declaring that Nigerians would not be discouraged from seeking political change.

Yesufu issued the warning in a post on her official X handle on Tuesday, amid growing political tensions over reported attacks on opposition figures in parts of the country.

“Whatever they bring, we are ready,” she said.

The activist accused the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) of presiding over a country grappling with hunger, economic hardship and poor governance.

She argued that Nigerians were increasingly dissatisfied with the situation and were looking towards the 2027 elections to express their grievances through the ballot.

Yesufu, who is a co-convener of the Bring Back Our Girls campaign, further warned that alleged intimidation, electoral manipulation and attacks on opposition supporters would not deter citizens from participating in the electoral process.

Her remarks come against the backdrop of reported attacks involving opposition candidates and supporters in Sokoto and Ekiti states.

She also called on President Bola Tinubu to concentrate on addressing the country’s economic and social challenges rather than engaging in political battles with opposition figures.

Yesufu maintained that the welfare of Nigerians should remain the government’s priority as the country approaches another general election.
