Mr. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, Governor of Ondo State, has approved the appointment of Chief Segun Odusanya as the new Head of Public Service of the state, effective June 6, 2026.

The appointment follows the retirement of the outgoing Head of Service, Mr. Bayo Philips, after a distinguished career in the state’s public service.
Announcing the appointment in a statement issued on Friday, the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Prince Ebenezer Adeniyan, said Governor Aiyedatiwa expressed appreciation to Philips for his contributions to the development of Ondo State and wished him success in his future endeavours.
The governor also charged the new Head of Service to deploy his vast administrative experience toward advancing the goals of the administration and strengthening the state’s public service.
Odusanya, a seasoned civil servant and administrator, was born on February 6, 1967, into the family of the late Venerable Emmanuel Odusanya and Mrs. Emmanuel Odusanya.
He attended St. Peter’s Primary School, Ile-Oluji, and later Gboluji Anglican Grammar School, where he completed his secondary education in 1983.
For his tertiary education, he attended Obafemi Awolowo University, then known as the University of Ife, where he obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture in 1989. He subsequently earned a Postgraduate Diploma in Management Studies from the same institution in 1992.
Driven by a commitment to professional development, Odusanya later enrolled at University of Ado-Ekiti, where he obtained a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree in 2000.
He joined the Ondo State Public Service in September 1995 and rose through the ranks, serving in several ministries and government agencies before his appointment as Permanent Secretary in 2019.
Throughout his career, he has served as Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, the Ondo State Civil Service Commission, the Ministry of Transport, and most recently, the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry.
Until his appointment, he was also serving as Chairman of the Forum of Permanent Secretaries in Ondo State.
Odusanya is a fellow of several professional bodies, including the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management, the Chartered Institute of Public Administration of Nigeria, and the Chartered Institute of Local Government Administration.
He is married to Lady Oluwatoyin Odusanya, and the union is blessed with three children.
The appointment is expected to strengthen the state’s public service leadership as the Aiyedatiwa administration continues to pursue its development agenda under the OUR EASE policy framework.
