The Ondo State Government has dismissed reports circulating on social media and messaging platforms alleging that a kidnapping incident occurred in a school within Akure, the state capital.

In a statement issued on Wednesday by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Prince Ebenezer Adeniyan, the government described the reports as false and misleading, stressing that no kidnapping incident had been recorded in any primary, secondary, or tertiary institution in Akure.
According to the statement, all schools across the metropolis remain safe, fully operational, and are carrying out academic activities without any disruption.
The government disclosed that security agencies, including the Nigeria Police Force, the Ondo State Security Network Agency (Amotekun Corps), and the Department of State Services (DSS), had verified the situation across schools in Akure and confirmed that there was no security breach.
It added that the state government, in collaboration with school authorities and parents, has continued to maintain strict security measures to safeguard pupils, students, and teachers.
While urging residents to disregard the rumour, the government warned against the spread of unverified information capable of causing unnecessary panic and anxiety among parents and the general public.
“The safety of our children and teachers remains a top priority of the Aiyedatiwa administration,” the statement said.
The government also encouraged individuals with genuine security concerns or information to report directly to the nearest police station or Amotekun post for prompt action.
The statement reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to ensuring the safety of residents and maintaining a secure learning environment across the state.
