Police Disown Unauthorized ‘AFRIPOL 2026’ Programme

By Our Reporter

The Nigeria Police Force has disclaimed a purported “AFRIPOL 2026” programme currently being circulated online, stating that it neither approved nor authorised the event.

In a statement issued on Wednesday by the Force Public Relations Officer, Anthony Okon Placid, the police described the programme as unauthorised and warned members of the public against engaging with it.

The Force also condemned the use of the name “AFRIPOL,” noting that it is globally recognised as the African Union Mechanism for Police Cooperation, an official continental policing structure established under the framework of the African Union.

According to the statement, AFRIPOL is not a platform for private or unauthorised programmes.

The police further stated that the leadership of the Force did not approve the use of the image of the Inspector-General of Police, the official logo of the Nigeria Police Force, or the identity of the institution in connection with the programme.

The Force advised members of the public, corporate organisations, and other stakeholders to disregard the publication and avoid any form of sponsorship, payment, or participation related to the event.

The police reiterated their commitment to protecting the integrity of the institution and preventing the misuse of its identity for unauthorised activities.
