Four people have died in an accident when a truck veered off the road crashing into shops reportedly after a failed brake. Eye witnesses said the accident occurred along the Gombe-Kumo Road at Mile Uku Sabuwa, near Biu Roundabout. The truck loaded with assorted foodstuffs lost control.
According to some accounts, the driver of a truck was attempting a U-turn when the brakes reportedly failed, veered off the road, ploughing into roadside shops and pedestrians.
Among those killed was a woman inside her shop. Several others were injured.
Panic and griefing sympathizers, residents, and emergency responders rushed to help with their bare hands.
