Sallah: NRC Increases Lagos-Ibadan Train Trips, Announces Special Osun Service

The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) has announced a temporary increase in train services along the Lagos-Ibadan corridor ahead of the Sallah celebration.

In a statement issued by NRC Chief Public Relations Officer Callistus Unyimadu, the corporation said the adjustment is aimed at managing the expected surge in passenger traffic during the festive period. Under the temporary arrangement, six train trips will operate on Tuesday, May 26, 2026, instead of the usual four Tuesday schedules.

According to the NRC, departures from Lagos will hold at 7:45am, 1:40pm, and 4:00pm, while trains from Ibadan will depart at 8:00am, 10:50am, and 4:30pm. The corporation added that normal Tuesday operations will resume after the Sallah celebration.

The NRC also confirmed that the Osun State Government will once again provide its annual free Sallah train service for indigenes travelling to Osogbo for the holiday. The initiative reflects the growing dependence on rail transport during festive periods, as many Nigerians continue to seek safer and more affordable alternatives to road travel amid rising transportation costs and security concerns on highways.
