The Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) has threatened to remove any instruction that consistently fail to access, utilize, or properly account for funds or fall short of enrollment and academic performance standards, from its beneficiaries List.

Arc. Sonny Echono, the Executive Secretary of TETFund disclosed this while speaking at a One-Day Strategic Engagement with Heads of Institutions, Bursars, and Heads of Procurement, raised concerns over the unchecked expansion of institutions and duplication of mandates, urging stakeholders to prioritize quality over quantity.
Echono clarified that this policy is not designed to punish, but to protect the integrity and impact of TETFund interventions, ensuring resources are channeled to institutions committed to good governance, transparency, and accountability.

He described the engagement as a call to action, a platform to reflect, learn, and recommit to best practices in governance, project management, and compliance.

Heads of other Agencies present at the forum pledged continued collaboration with TETFund and stakeholders.

They urged participants to use the platform for frank discussions on improving procurement processes, financial management, and institutional capacity.
