IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, Inspector-General of Police, has congratulated Muslim faithful across Nigeria on the successful completion of Ramadan and the celebration of Eid-el-Fitr.

In a statement issued on Friday, the police chief also ordered a nationwide deployment of tactical assets to ensure a safe and secure environment during the festive period.

The directive mandates Commissioners of Police and Tactical Commanders across all states and the Federal Capital Territory to implement robust security measures.

According to the police, the operational strategies include the strategic deployment of tactical teams and intelligence operatives, as well as the mobilisation of the Special Intervention Squad and conventional police personnel to Eid prayer grounds and critical infrastructure.

The Force also announced increased security presence at highways, motor parks, recreational centres and other public places to guarantee peaceful and hitch-free celebrations.

Disu further directed heightened visibility policing, coordinated patrols, enhanced surveillance and intelligence-led stop-and-search operations to proactively deter crime and ensure swift response to security threats.

He called on members of the public to remain vigilant, cooperate with law enforcement agencies and promptly report suspicious activities to the nearest police station or designated emergency lines.

The Inspector-General wished Muslim faithful a peaceful and joyous Eid-el-Fitr celebration, reiterating the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to safeguarding lives and property across the country.
