Kano Donates Three Vehicles to Boost NDLEA Anti-Drug War

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Kano Strategic Command, has received three operational vehicles from the Kano State Government to strengthen its fight against drug abuse and trafficking.

The donation was disclosed in a statement issued by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Sadiq Maigatari, and made available on Friday.

According to the statement, the vehicles were handed over on Thursday, April 9, 2026, to Dahiru Lawal, the State Commander,  by Umar Ibrahim, the Secretary to the State Government,  on behalf of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf.

Speaking during the handover ceremony, Ibrahim described the donation as a strategic intervention aimed at boosting the agency’s operational capacity.

“Drug abuse remains a major driver of criminal activity and other social vices. This intervention is part of efforts to strengthen collaboration between the government and security agencies to safeguard our communities,” he said.

In his response, Lawal expressed appreciation to the state government, assuring that the vehicles would be put to effective use.

“The additional logistics will enhance our enforcement operations, help dismantle drug trafficking networks, and intensify the closure of identified drug joints across Kano,” he said.

He also commended the existing partnership between the agency and the state government, noting that such cooperation has been critical to recent successes recorded in the state.

The NDLEA added that the donation follows recent operational gains under its “Operation Ramadan Mubarak,” during which more than 200 suspects were arrested and over 20 drug joints dismantled across Kano.
