Senator Samuel Anyanwu, governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Imo State, has called for the cancellation of the just concluded election.

Anyanwu made the demand while addressing journalists at a press conference following reelection of Governor Hope Uzodinma.

He stated that INEC and the security personnel did not fulfil their constitutional obligation of providing fair elections to the citizens of the state.

He alleged that instead, the security agents protected INEC staff as the APC members rewrote results

Professor Abayomi Fashina, INEC’s Returning Officer for the Imo State Governorship Election, on Sunday, announced Uzodinma as winner, having scored the highest number of valid votes cast.

Uzodinma polled 540,308 votes, while the candidate of the PDP, Mr Sam Anyanwu polled 71,503 and Athan Achonu of the Labour Party polled 64,081 votes to come in third position.
