Man Arrested By Police In Abuja For Trying To Commit Suicide

Police operatives of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), have arrested Shuaibu Alhaji Yushua, a man who was trying to commit suicide after climbing a mast at Aso Radio in Katampe, Abuja in the early hours of Monday, July 8, 2024.

According to the statement released by SP Josephine Adeh, the Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Abuja Command, the citizens who were around the area placed a distress call around 9:00 am in the morning, lamenting that a man with a placard had climbed the mast to commit suicide.

However, moving swiftly to Katampe in Abuja, the police operatives did their professional job and got the man arrested.

“With much professional persuasions from the police operatives, the man later identified as Shuaibu Alhaji Yushau was prevented from taking his own life. He claimed to have been observing the mast for about a week before deciding to climb it. Suspect is presently in police custody and in a stable condition,” Josephine Adeh stated.

The police operatives also maintained that future development would be communicated to members of the public.
