In a popular video making rounds on the Nigerian digital space between popular gospel singer, Tope Alabi, criticising a popular Christian song, Oniduro Mi, which was sung by iconic singers, Tolu Adelegan and Yinka Alaseyori, at different times.
In the Yoruba language, Oniduro Mi simply means guarantor. The song exalts God as a guarantor and one who never forsakes His own.
While commenting on the song, Alabi noted that God was more than a guarantor to her. The singer further said that there was a time she wanted to sing the song but the Holy Spirit cautioned her against doing so.
There has been lot of comments on social media saying Tope Alabi underrated the singer of Oniduro.
From 125k followers on Instagram to 225k followers within the last 12 hours and still counting.
According to Sunday Oguntola on his facebook page wrote: So, Aunty Tope is angry you appear to be growing at a frenetic pace. For those with good heart, it is nothing to worry about. The sky is big enough to accommodate all, as they say. But you see when you are envious, you think everything starts and ends with you. Even if you are the most ahead, you are still threatened by those miles behind you.
Instead of moving on, an envious soul will keep checking those behind to keep them further away. That is what is eating up Aunty Tope. It is combination of anger, envy and arrogance. She said the Holy Spirit cautioned her not to sing the song. Well, we didn’t know she has exclusive access to the Holy Spirit.
She feels she is entitled to everything and everyone, including God. That is the problem with people like her. They forget so easily the days of little beginning. They want to bring others down to move further. I have seen many of them in my life.
But you know what? Just ignore her. I know you wondered why she didn’t reach you personally before the public knock out. She didn’t because her intention is to demarket you. But God has taken over. See how many are speaking up for you. Consider how many people who didn’t know about you and the song have been curious in last 24 hours.
That is what God can do. When He is for you, every fiery dart of the enemies become energisers. Aunty Tope has just made you more popular. She would have been better off to look away. But please learn from her. Don’t ever grow so big that you don’t want others to rise. Never disparage those behind. As long as you mind your business, God will sort out the rest for you.
Like millions of your old and new fans, I bow and sing to God: Oniduro mi, O seun o
Bo ba je eniyan to duro ni
A ti pada
Bo ba je eniyan lo duro ni
A ti ma siregun
Oniduro mi, O seun o.
Another comment from an anonymous in a watsapp said Tope Alabi goofed.
Nigerians has continued to condemn the statement of Evangelist Tope Alabi and requested that she apologise for that derogatory remark.
