The Plateau State Police Command has announced the arrest of suspected terrorist informants during a security operation in the state.

According to the police, the suspects confessed to providing intelligence to bandits operating in forested areas prior to their arrest.
While parading the suspects and recovered items before journalists in Jos on Saturday, Bassey Ewah, the Commissioner of Police, said the arrests were made possible through credible information supplied by members of the public, which he described as crucial to the success of the operation.
He also disclosed the arrest of armed robbery suspects in Langtang South, following a tip-off from a Good Samaritan. The Divisional Police Officer, he said, responded promptly in collaboration with the Armed Robbery Section of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID).
Items recovered by the command include three locally fabricated AK-47 rifles, two locally made revolvers, other pistols, and rubber guns believed to have been used in criminal activities.
Ewah attributed the seizure of the firearms to timely and actionable intelligence from residents.
“We appreciate the trust and cooperation of the public, whose information has led to these recoveries,” he said.
He added that all suspects, including those linked to kidnapping and banditry through information sharing, would be charged in court.
The commissioner also commended the Plateau State Ministry of Justice, particularly the Attorney General, for its role in ensuring diligent prosecution of cases, while acknowledging the media for highlighting police efforts.
Exhibits, including the recovered weapons, were displayed during the briefing.
Ewah further assured that individuals connected to the seized rifles would face legal action, with the courts to determine the legality of their possession, stressing that the command remains open to public feedback to enhance its operations.
