The Nigeria Police Force has arrested eight suspected kidnappers and recovered arms during a coordinated security operation in Rukubi Community, Doma Local Government Area of Nasarawa State.

The operation followed a distress report received in the early hours of May 7, 2026, concerning an attack by armed hoodlums who invaded the community on the night of May 6, shooting sporadically and creating panic among residents.
According to the police, the attackers stormed the residences of two community members and abducted two victims to an unknown destination.
Operatives of the Nasarawa State Police Command, working alongside other security agencies and local youths, were immediately deployed to the area, leading to the arrest of eight suspects linked to the incident.
The suspects were identified as Adamu Alfa, Muhammed Alfa, Shuaibu Alfa, Usman Alfa, Ali Alfa, Isa Alfa, another Adamu Alfa, and Ja’afaru Alfa, all said to be from Rugan Alhaji Alfa in Rukubi Village.
During the operation, security operatives recovered two AK-47 rifles, four Bajaj motorcycles, and two expended 7.62mm ammunition shells believed to have been used during the attack.
The Force also confirmed that one of the suspects sustained fatal injuries during the operation and later died while receiving medical treatment.
Reacting to the development, the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, commended the operatives for their gallantry and professionalism.
He described the operation as a strong demonstration of the effectiveness of intelligence-led policing and inter-agency collaboration in combating violent crimes.
The IGP also appreciated the support provided by sister security agencies, local vigilante groups, community youths, and residents, noting that their cooperation contributed significantly to the success of the operation.
