Ahead of this Saturday’s bye-election in Ondo South Senatorial District, Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa has called on voters to conduct themselves peacefully while urging them to elect Prof. Dayo Faduyile of the All Progressives Congress (APC), describing him as the best candidate to represent the district in the Senate.

The Ondo South Senatorial seat became vacant in June 2026 following the appointment of Sen. Jimoh Ibrahim as Nigeria’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations.

Speaking at the party’s grand finale campaign rally in Okitipupa on Thursday, the governor, represented by his deputy, Dr. Olayide Adelami, said Prof. Faduyile possesses the experience and capacity required to effectively champion the interests of the people of Ondo South in the upper legislative chamber.

He noted that the district had previously been represented by “an egghead” in the person of Senator Jimoh Ibrahim and stressed that the people could not afford to lower the standard of representation.

He therefore urged all voters to turn out en masse on Saturday and vote for Prof. Faduyile to ensure the district continues to enjoy quality representation.

Speaking on behalf of APC leaders in the district, Chief Olusola Oke and Hon. Isaac Kekemeke said the bye-election presents an opportunity for Ondo South to demonstrate its electoral strength and readiness to deliver a resounding victory for President Tinubu in the 2027 general electiong.

Appreciating the overwhelming support and warm reception from the people of the district, the APC candidate, Prof. Faduyile, pledged to pursue a people-centred legislative agenda that prioritises the needs and aspirations of his constituents.

He assured that, if elected, he would champion quality representation, attract meaningful developmental projects, promote policies that improve livelihoods, and maintain close engagement with the people to ensure that their voices are effectively represented in the National Assembly.

Faduyile also promised to justify the confidence reposed in him through responsive, accountable, and impactful leadership.
