Ogun Police Debunk Gunmen Attack Claims in Kitan Oyesiku’s Death, Urge Public to Avoid Speculation

By our Reporter

The Ogun State Police Command has dismissed reports suggesting that veteran broadcaster and retired Ogun State Television (OGTV) personality, Ms. Kitan Oyesiku, was attacked and killed by gunmen, describing such claims as unverified and capable of misleading the public.

This clarification comes as detectives continue investigations into the circumstances surrounding the deaths of Ms. Oyesiku and her security guard, whose bodies were discovered at her residence in Iyana Agodo Village, Ogun State.

In an update on the ongoing investigation, the Command stated that preliminary findings have not established any evidence indicating that the deceased was attacked by gunmen.

According to the police, no gunshot wounds were found on the body of the late broadcaster, contrary to reports circulating on some media and social media platforms.

The Command emphasized that investigations remain ongoing and urged members of the public, media organisations and social media users to refrain from spreading unverified information capable of creating unnecessary fear and confusion.

“There is currently no evidence to suggest that the deceased was attacked by gunmen, as no gunshot wounds were found on the body,” the police stated.

The Command further appealed to the public to respect the dignity of the deceased and allow investigators to carry out their duties without interference from speculation or misinformation.

Police authorities assured that every lead is being thoroughly investigated and that the outcome of the investigation will be made public at the appropriate time.

The Ogun State Police Command also called for calm, noting that premature conclusions and sensational reports could generate unnecessary panic within the public space and undermine ongoing investigative efforts.

Reaffirming its commitment to uncovering the circumstances surrounding the deaths, the Command assured residents that no effort would be spared in ensuring that those responsible, if any criminal act is established, are identified and brought to justice.

The police urged anyone with credible information that may assist the investigation to come forward and cooperate with law enforcement authorities.
