Police Arrest 147 Suspects, Recover 250 Cartridges, Machetes in Lagos

The Lagos State Police Command has arrested 147 suspected criminals during a major raid on criminal hideouts across parts of the state as part of its ongoing Operation KO S’AYE III.

According to a statement issued by Abimbola Adebisi, Police Public Relations Officer, the operation was carried out in the early hours of Sunday, July 19, 2026, following credible intelligence.

A joint team of police operatives from different formations stormed identified criminal hideouts at Boolar, Super Ile-Epo and other black spots with the aim of flushing out hoodlums and other criminal elements allegedly terrorising residents.

During the operation, police arrested a total of 147 suspects and recovered 250 expanded cartridges, 22 machetes, five battle axes, two knives, a pair of scissors, a lighter, assorted charms, and substances suspected to be Indian hemp.

The Command disclosed that all suspects are currently in police custody while investigations are ongoing to determine their level of involvement in criminal activities. It added that anyone found culpable will be charged to court.

Commending the officers involved in the operation, CP Tijani Fatai, Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, praised their professionalism and dedication to duty. He reiterated that Operation KO S’AYE III would continue across the state to dismantle criminal hideouts, deny criminals safe havens, and strengthen security for all Lagos residents.

The Commissioner also appealed to members of the public to continue supporting the Police with timely and credible information that will assist in identifying criminal hideouts and apprehending offenders.

The Lagos State Police Command urged residents to report emergencies or useful information through its designated emergency lines as it intensifies efforts to keep the state safe.
