The Police have commenced sensitization campaigns against political and digital thuggery in Lagos State in the buildup to the 2027 general elections.

The Lagos State Police Command expressed that the public sensitization is a directive from the Inspector General of Police, Tunji Rilwan Disu, adding that it is being coordinated in Lagos by CP Tijani Fatai, Commissioner of Police.
The launching of the campaign revolved around the theme of this year’s International Youth Day, “Different Contexts, Same Aspirations. The campaign targets violence during the entire electoral processes, including the increasing use of social media to intimidate voters and spread disinformation.
CP Tijani Fatai, in his keynote address, frowned at the use of Nigerian youth for unholy practices before, during, and after elections.
The said the sensitization is to protect the nation’s democracy, as well as the future and well-being of the Nigerian youth, who are being given peanuts by politicians to attack perceived political opponents.
The Police declared that political and digital thuggery are two sides of a coin that threaten democracy, which must be resisted by all.
